The performance  featured seasonal classics including The Christmas Song, What Child Is This, Walking in a Winter Wonderland, Baby It’s Cold Outside, All I Want for Christmas and more in a unique mosaic of musical styles.  AZ Music Project’s “Music That Makes a Difference” and helped to provide food to Arizona’s hungry children, seniors, and families as we raise awareness and funds to benefit the United Food Ban Successful Food Bank Fund Raiser.

Afterwards, Ralph Shirey wrote the following about the event:

A couple of months ago we met with Board Vice President and Chairperson of the Farnsworth Hall Management and Operations Committee Harry Cole and his assistant and Club Administrative Services Manager Jackie Young and the folks from AZ Music Project regarding booking the Hall for a Food Bank fund raiser.  The details were worked out, a date selected and contracted filled out.

The months have passed and on December sixth, the Christmas Celebration Concert was performed. During the concert the question came up, what is AZ Music Project?  It hadn’t been promoted or explained. The reason being the show was about the fund raiser not the AZ Music Project.  AZ Music Project is a private studio for music, voice, and singing education offering instruction through lessons.  Patrick Cunningham a retired Mesa school teacher with a passion for music and teaching and his wife Bonnie operate the studio.

Now back to the concert, the studio used their sound equipment, the students donated their time and talents, DVCC volunteers donated their time to make the Hall a comfortable venue for the show. The concert was stupendous, the performers were amazing and the song selection was appropriate for the season.

Refreshment were donated and sold with the proceeds going to the Food Bank.  The 50/50 drawing was a success and the person winning the 50% donated it to the food bank. The latest estimate of revenue raised by the event was enough cash and food to feed over five thousand meals.  Thanks to all of the families, friends of the students and the Dreamland residents that supported the program.

A special thank you to DVCC volunteers, Harry, Jackie, my wife Pat, Katie and David, Yvonne, Aggie and Rich, Harry and Bobbi, Lucille, Jayne, Lew and Linda and last but not least our volunteer provider Donna.

We can’t forget to thank the DVCC maintenance crew that cleared the 50-60 tables from the floor from the Arts and Crafts show and set up for church, which is the setup we used for the concert.

With 100% of the proceeds going to the food bank thousands will be eating because of everyone giving of their time and effort.

P.S. The Grand total raised was $1165. plus the food.  So about 6000 meals will be provided for those that need them.
