Heather Canterbury - President

My name is Heather Canterbury. My father Jim and I moved into the community in April 2023. I chose Dreamland because it was important to me that my dad had activities available to keep him busy and to make friends since he moved from Georgia for me. I have moved 11 times between 2014 and 2022, so I did not expect to find a community here for myself as well. This has become a home, not just a residence for me.
As a general manager in the movie theatre industry, I have extensive experience in events, food & beverage, and financials. My education is in political science and psychology. Don’t worry, I will try not to get in your head! I have 3 children, 2 grandchildren, 3 kitties, and a giant German Shepherd child.
I decided to run for a position after talking to some residents and hearing some of the issues they were seeing. As a “fixer”, I am hoping to lend my skill set to continue to make our community the best it can be. While I have the utmost respect for anyone wanting and willing to give their time and energy, I feel that having a different mindset is just what Dreamland needs.

David Warren - Vice President

My name is Dave Warren, I am originally from Millbury Massachusetts. I worked for Intel Corporation for 43 years. In 2014, my wife Debbie and I transferred here because Intel closed in Massachusetts. I have a background in electronics and management, and I was a Team Leader for most of my career. We have lived here in Dreamland for 3 years. Before DVRC we lived at the Highland of Brentwood on Val Vista Ave. I was President of the community for 4 of the 5 years we lived there. Deb was the activity lady and just about everything else to make everybody happy. I am running for the board to help keep DVRC 55+. I would like to get more activities scheduled in Dreamland and see more residents getting involved. I want to make this a fun and great Community to live in. I want to be involved in all decisions made in Dreamland Villa. I want to make sure all decisions are made with full Board approval.

Hello neighbors, I am Elizabeth (Beth) White and I have lived in the Dreamland Villa Retirement Community since 2004 as a renter and owner. I retired for the first time in 2009 and again in 2014. I have experience with scheduling maintenance for a large factory. I was part owner of a small family business. I was the treasurer for my HOA in New Mexico from 2001 to 2007. My education includes course studies in accounting, computers, and physical education. Later, I received an AAS in Occupational Health and Safety, an AAS in Hazardous Material Management, and a BAS in Environmental Studies. I taught Occupational Health and Safety and Overview of Hazardous Materials for Workers for two years for the Back to Work Program in Washington State.

Kevin Brueback

Hi, I’m Kevin Brueback. My wife, Jill and I have been members of Dreamland Villa Retirement Community since moving to Mesa in December of 2018. After moving from Michigan, we became Arizona residents in 1981. We have raised two children here and they also live in Mesa. I have spent most of my working career as a Traffic Signal Superintendent for the City of Phoenix, retiring in July of 2014.

I was elected to the DVRC Board of Directors at the February 2023 election with the mission to uphold the 55+ status for our community and working to improve our community.

Joyce Canino - Secretary

I am Joyce Canino. My mom has lived here for about 12 years now and has always talked about how nice it was living in Dreamland Villa. A little over 2 years ago I moved here, driving across the country from Southern New Jersey.

Spent 20+ years in the Pharmaceutical Glass Industry as a Quality Control Chemical Durability Technician. Along the way, I earned Certificate Degrees in Accounting, Paralegal, and Marketing & Sales. I was a foster parent and caregiver for an elderly neighbor for many years, and my dad until his passing.

I joined the Singles Club when I first moved here, got my food handlers license, and I volunteer for many activities. I am involved in the Christmas Stocking Project and a volunteer worker for the Velda Rose Rummage sales every year.

Since being appointed in July, I have been in the office every day bringing Dreamland up to its full capacity. I am good with computers, and programs, figuring things out, and coming up with solutions.

The time is now for the next generation to take Dreamland Villa into the future. It would be an honor to be a part of the board that leads this community forward for years to come.

My wife Marcia and I purchased our home in Dreamland Villa in March of 2017. Since purchasing the property we have remodeled both the inside and the exterior including Landscaping. We, like many others in Dreamland Villa, are snowbirds and come down in the fall and return to Nebraska in the spring.

I have been retired for 11 years from the Nebraska Department of Agriculture, where I was the administrator of the Department's Division of Weights of Measures. I managed this program for over 35 years. Duties included the supervision of twenty staff members who were located throughout the state of Nebraska, prepared, and managed budgets, developed legislation, along with the rules and regulations to implement legislation and managed regulatory actions. I have participated in and served as Chairperson of both my Regional and National Association, which developed model technical standards for measurement equity.

My wife and I have owned three duplex rental properties which we managed and maintained on our own. I am proud to say that I served my country in the United States Marine Corps and served a tour of Duty in Okinawa and Vietnam.

My years of regulatory experience has taught me how to work together with others.

My husband John and I have been married 53 years. We bought our home on Anaheim Street in December of 2016.

Before I retired, I was a flight attendant. I also did work being a general manager for a teacher resource store. I also worked in a physical therapy front office doing scheduling and support for the therapists and their patients.

I started volunteering in dreamland in 2018 with the Entertainment Committee. We planned FH indoor and outdoor concerts, dinners and dances, Sgt. Pepper Wild West Show, and Spring Flings with music and food. We scheduled entertainment with TAD and other independent musicians. Met with T2 trying to help with the transition of them renting Farnsworth. Helped on the Social Committee with the 60th Gala and pool party.
