Barbara Miller (2019)

Barbara Miller passed away on January 29, 2019.

Barbara was born and raised in the Buckeye State of Ohio. She was an 8th grade English teacher for 30 years and moved to Dreamland Villa in 1999. It did not take long for her to get involved in her new community. She served on the Board of Directors, she was on the 40th year reunion committee, and she was editor of the Citizen newspaper for 10 years. Barbara instituted Block Watch and worked with the sheriffs’ office and community to get it rolled out. She was an advocate towards Dreamland becoming an HOA and worked tirelessly towards that end. She was also responsible for the renovation of the kitchen at Farnsworth Hall, raising $20,000.00 in one year.

In 2005, Barbara directed our first variety show and several more followed. More recently, 4 years ago, Barbara took on the project of the High Tea here at Dreamland. She was in charge until her unfortunate accident this past December. She loved the Tea, feeling it is something special that people really enjoy. It has been a huge success, selling out 280 tickets in a ½ hour. She really loved working with the entire crew and entertainers.

Barbara had so many friends and acquaintances over the years. She was not only very active in Dreamland Villa but with her church and her card groups as well. She may have had a gruff exterior, but those of us who knew her knew that was only a thin outside layer to the creampuff she was on the inside. She had a big heart and loved her Lord, her family, her church, and her friends.

Barbara loved her family. She leaves behind her only brother Larry, two sons, Mike and Todd in Ohio, and a daughter, Carole, here in Arizona, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
