Board Study Session Minutes - May 1, 2012

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM by Vice President Lyle Wood. Board members present were: Jim Cook, Judy Ford, Agnes Forsyth, Steve Holleque, Mary Kirk, Frances Skaggs, Patricia Thorpe, Gordon Watson, Gloria Wilson-White and Lyle Wood. Excused were Jerald Westall, Doris Gruner and Larry Wilkens. Unexcused, Wendall Black.

Old Business:
Retro Lighting – A contract was received from the lightning company, which Lyle Wood signed to start the process of re-lighting the halls. This will need to be approved by the court.

Nature Walk - The maintenance staff took care of the encroaching bush problem. The rest of the clean up will be left until fall.

Farnsworth Hall Operation - Judy Ford stated plans are in the works to have more summer activities held in Farnsworth Hall.

The first ice cream social will be held May 8 from 1:00 to 4:00.

Name Change for Complaint Committee- James Cook will work on this to be presented in October.

Also Lyle indicated the need for a personnel committee chairperson. Will be looked into.

Chairs for Ceramics Room – Steve Holleque checked on costs for new chairs for the Ceramics Room. The cost for 25 chairs would be around $650.00. This was tabled until fall.

Garbage Can Placement; This needs to be presented as a change to the Bylaws and would need to be voted on by the Board, as some streets might need to be exempt.

Associate Memberships – Jim Cook – This has been tabled until we get advice from the attorneys.

Procedures for Non-members Using DVCC Facilities - Attorney advice needed before any changes can be make.

Pool Tables Covers; Lyle Wood- Tabled until fall.
