SRP Phone Scam Alert

SRP is concerned about customer safety. That's why we want to alert you to a nationwide phone scam regarding bill payment.

Scam artists falsely claiming to be utility employees are calling customers threatening to disconnect power unless the victims "pay the bill" by providing a credit card number. In some cases, the caller instructs the customer to purchase a prepaid debit card from a local store.

Protect yourself

  • SRP does not call customers and ask for banking information.
  • SRP never demands immediate payments.
  • SRP never threatens same-day disconnection.
  • SRP doesn't accept bitcoin or prepaid cards such a MoneyPack, Green Dot or Vanilla.
  • Never give personal information to callers or visitors without knowing their true identity.
  • You can always verify your account status at SRP My Account.
  • When in doubt, call SRP directly at (602) 236-8888 to verify any caller or visitor.
  • Contact local police if you suspect you have been victimized by a scammer.

SRP has additional information online to help you avoid becoming a victim.
