Neighborhood Watch Group - Duncan - 6200 and 63rd PlaceApril 14, 2013 by Jean Hammil The 6200-6300 block of Duncan Street Neighborhood Watch is off to a great start with out first meeting held on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the home of Barb Nelson. A large group of neighbors attended and enjoyed having our neighbors from the end of 63rd Place join the Duncan Street “Gang”. We all met NEW people and started getting acquainted. A special thank you goes to Barbara Nelson for hostessing this event and serving numerous and delicious deserts which were enjoyed as we visited. Thank you also to Ro-Ellen Shepard and Beverly Pasbrig who assisted loading attendance information into the computer and taking care of the invitations for this event. Ro-Ellen’s daughter, Winona, designed and made a sign (for all of our activities) for the Duncan Street Neighbor Watch. Barbara Miller, Neighborhood Co-coordinator for DVCC, gave a presentation on the Neighborhood Watch program’s organization, how it functions and several question/answer items. Thanks, Barb. We were fortunate that Jean’s nephew, who has had twentyfive years of law enforcement experience, spoke on current crime trends, scams, fraud and identity theft. He emphasized how important it is to have a Watch Program. He was very honored to be invited to speak at our meeting. He said, “This is the best thing neighbors can do make their neighborhood safe.” We all are looking forward to our next “Get Together”. We hope more of the 6200-6300 Duncan Street neighbors can attend so we all can get better acquainted.
