Hi, my name is Mary Newkirk. I am a recently appointed interim director on the DVRC Board. I would like to continue in a position on the board because I believe in the power of community and would love to see Dreamland Villa continue to be, and improve, as a successfully managed 55+ Community of committed, caring neighbors.
My husband Steve and I moved into our home in Dreamland just after Christmas last year. Steve is a motor coach operator and I have not been employed since we moved to Arizona from Minnesota a little over 2 years ago. My experience has been mainly in administrative roles. For 20 years I was an owner and manager in a family retail business. Following that I worked for about 11 years as a Church Administrator. In this role, as in the family business, I managed many operational aspects of the church, two of my main roles were in financial bookkeeping and administrative assistance-type things. I think this experience gives me some insight into the director’s role here at Dreamland. I’m a good listener and understand the director should be the accessible, responsible link between the residents and the effective operation of the entity of DVRC. I see our challenges as getting more residents to financially support our status as a 55+ community and to be open to positive change for the future of our community.
